WHAT TO SEE ON A CRUISE TO
HAWAII
Each Hawaii island offers unique opportunities to visitors. We will describe just a few of them below.
MAUI island- enjoying the scenic beauty:
Maui used to be a residential place for the Hawaiian royalty. These days the island is a top world class
resort. Beautiful beaches, top-notch golf
courses, excellent shopping at
Lahaina's multi-level
mall featuring
shops, galleries and restaurants. Cruise travelers in Maui are often
shown the second largest dormant volcano in the world. Bus and hiking
tours to breathtaking waterfalls in the midst of rainforests are
also very popular.
OAHU island- exploring historical past, seeking adventure:
Honolulu's Aloha
Tower offers the best views
of the city. The Bishop Museum has the world's largest collection of
Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts. The Iolani Palace served as the
residence of the last two
Hawaiian monarchs. Stroll along the famous Waikiki Beach, shop in the
many
boutiques downtown. Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial are
must-sees on cruises to Hawaii. Other popular tourist activities on
Oahu include wave surfing, climbing Diamond Head, whale watching,
golfing,
and snorkeling.
KAUAI island- the Isle of Gardens:
World-famous for its deep valleys, grand
waterfalls and fern grottos, Kauai is also home to some of the best
sandy beaches,
the magnificent cliffs of the Na Pali Coast and the
beautiful Waimea canyon. The island is still largely
undeveloped, most of its land covered with tropical forests, colorful
wild flowers and exposed
volcanic rock.
HAWAII- the Big Island:
Surf, snorkel, dive, ride horses, hike
through the jungles, play golf, watch wonderful sunsets and wild
orchids, discover active volcanoes and 14,000-foot,
snow-covered mountain peaks, visit botanical
gardens on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Hilo located on the Big Island is the gateway to
botanical gardens, waterfalls, the Hawaii Volcanoes National
Park and the Mauna Kea Observatory. Shop for
distinctive designer dresses and shirts, visit the Hilo
Farmer's Market, or try local cuisine at one of the many dining outlets. The
Kona Coast is famous for its unique
black-sand and green-sand beaches.
Kailua on the Kona Coast is a great destination marlin fishing.
HAWAII
CRUISE LENGTH
Cruises to Hawaii are usually 7 to 10 days long. Cruise ships visit the four main Hawaiian islands—Oahu,
Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island of Hawaii. Vacationers spend one or two days on each island,
and have enough time to relax on the beach and take onshore tours.
WHEN
TO CRUISE
Hawaii cruises allow to explore the islands all year-round. The best
time to see Hawaii is March through August and early fall when the
islands get the least amount of rain, and because during the high
season all tourist attractions are open. The least busy and therefore
the cheapest months to cruise to Hawaii are late November, February and
May. During the low season there are less passengers with children
onboard. January is
one of the coolest and wettest months of the year in Hawaii with land
and sea water temperatures in the +20-s C (70's F). Winter months are
best for whalewatching. Late August and September are hurricane months
with humid weather and tropical
storms.
HAWAII
CRUISE TIPS
We strongly recommend you to compare cruise fares and itineraries
before you book. Some cruise lines offer round-trip cruises to Hawaii
all the way from the West
Coast of the USA. You have a choice between saving on airfare to
Hawaii, and boarding a cruise ship there, or but spending more
time on board while sailing across the Pacific. Choose clothes
depending on the cruise season, but do not forget to
pack some warm clothes. Multilayering is the best tactic in case of a
sudden weather change. Consider taking comfortable
walking shoes if you expect a lot of sightseeing. Rain gear may be
useful for cruises to Hawaii during the winter months. You may also
find binoculars handy to
observe the coastal lines. Camera will help you add more wonderful
pictures to your family album. For more
